eMotion MotorsIts raining startups especially in EV segment and why not, government wants to go green, people want to go green, so why not startups! Coimbatore-based start-up eMotion Motors will showcase India’s first electric geared Motorcycle – ‘Surge’. They plan to showcase it on World Environment Day, 5th June 2018.

eMotion Motors Surge is calling it India’s first electric geared motorcycle, we believe they meant first ‘Made in India’ electric geared motorcycle, as UM recently showcased a similar product at this years Auto Expo 2018. So calling it India’s first would be misleading.

Cutting short eMoion Motors Surge irons out all the issues that present two wheeler EV’s face i.e. bare features, low power, and low range, whose only benefits are no pollution and questionable total cost of ownership. Well, this is what the claims. Surge is a feature-rich motorcycle which can not only go toe-to-toe with petroleum vehicles, but also surpass them. It has over 40 new innovative features that help it stand out from other bikes on Indian roads.

The bike will have smart features such as LED Backlit Display, GPS Navigation, Mobile phone integration, Cloud connectivity and IOT features for an enhanced user experience. In terms of first in segment features its a geared electric motorcycle, it gives high torque multiplication at the wheel, reverse gear, boost feature is one-of-a-kind feature found in the segment, which is a rider’s dream of pushing extra power to the motors, large cabinet space for storage, SOS safety feature, animated turn signals, anti-pollution self-cleaning coating, anti theft alarm, solar cell etc.

EMotion Motor Surge is expected to have a range of 100Km in a single charge, with express charging getting the battery from empty to full charge in just 30 Minutes. Surge can go from stand still to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds with a top speed of 120 km/h. Electric Motor is capable of 28 Nm of torque at 2800 rpm and whooping 517 Nm at the wheel in first gear. What? yes, 517 Nm.

Company claims to have developed this bike after 7 years of research and development and tested in 30,000 km of real world conditions. We have seen a large number of EV startups and not many have actually launched their products, we hope to see this one out soon.
