The sports bike was launched by companies brand ambassador at INR 3.48 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is INR 23,000 more than its predecessor. The previous India Yamaha Motors launched the 2018 YZF – R3 quarter litre sports bike. version was out of production since April 2017 as it was not upgraded to BS IV norms.

With a mild upgrade the Yamaha 2018 YZF – R3 seems to be better equipped now.  The R3 now gets Metzeler tyres and more safety features like dual channel ABS (anti-lock brakes). New sticker Metzeler radial tyres provides better grip than the old MRF tyres. The twin cat-like headlamps, full fairing, clip-on handlebars and the sporty tail section remind you of the larger sportsbikes from Yamaha’s stable. The semi-digital instrument cluster has been retained as well. Suspension is equipped by 41 mm Kayaba forks up front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Braking performance is quite good and comes from 298 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes.

Commenting on the launch, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group of companies, said, “The success and popularity gained by the YZF-R3 in India is a major achievement by the company.
