Auto Expo 2018: 2018 Yamaha YZF-R15 launched in India at INR 1.25 Lakh
India Yamaha Motors Private Limited (IYM) launched the updated 2018 Yamaha YZF-R15 at INR 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the first day of Auto Expo 2018, IYM announced the updates to its super-sports bike offering which gets a 155 cc, liquid cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC and fuel injection technology mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
In conjunction to the bigger 155 cc power train, 2018 Yamaha YZF-R15 gets a Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) helps it deliver top-end power without sacrificing torque in the low to mid-range rpm and Assist and Slipper Clutch (A&S) which helps reduce the weight of the clutch pull and provide a low stress shifting during deceleration (resulting in smooth down-shifts). With forged aluminium pistons and DiaSil Cylinders are carried over with a high compression ratio of 11.6:1, it is capable of churning 19.31 PS of maximum power at 10,000 RPM and churns out 14.7 N.M of peak torque at 8500 RPM.

2018 Yamaha YZF-R15 (Version 3) styling is highly inspired by its siblings YZF- R1 and YZF- R6, making the front almost identical to the YZF- R1. The sportiness is further accentuated by the optional “Racing Kit” consisting of Metzeler tyre along with Daytona muffler and Frame Slider.

Features have also been updated on the 2018 YZF-R15 (Version 3.0) with upside down forks, a new digital instrument cluster with 18 parameter display, LED headlamp and new design tail lamp. Upgraded riding position (more aggressive) and wider size rear tire, same size that is offered on YZF R3, the shift light and VVA indicator which makes the power band simple to manage are all offered keeping the racing enthusiasts in mind. The super sport model will be available in two colour options – Racing Blue and Thunder Grey.
