Auto Expo 2018: 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift launched at INR 5.35 Lakh
2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift with upgrades was launched on the first day of the Auto Expo 2018. As expected the changes are minimal, considering it’s the facelift that has been launched. It has been launched at a starting price of INR 5.35 lakh for the base petrol and goes all the way to INR 7.90 Lakh for the top trim. On the other hand the diesel variant starts at INR 6.73 lakh and goes up to INR 9.15 lakh for the top variant. The prices are introductory and expect an increase in the coming months. Hyundai says that the net gain through all the new features is around INR 24,000, whereas the price has increased by mere INR 5000, thereby giving a net benefit of INR 19,000 to the customers.
Front of the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift gets a cascade design grille in gloss black finish, redesigned projector headlamps with LED DRL, positioning and cornering lamps and redesigned fog lamps. The changes to the front, however significant might just go unnoticed to the naked eye, till you see the rear end. Rear of the car gets new redesigned tail gate with number plate shifting from the bumper, rear bumper also gets a new look with dual tone black matte finish and a new a tail lamp design.
Glossy C-pillar has been retained from the outgoing version. Adding to the sporty and bold stance 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift gets 16” diamond cut allow wheels and a new Flame Orange colour. Hyundai claims Elite i20 facelift is First-in-segment to offer dual tone exteriors with Red and Orange interior colour packs.
Interior of 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift looks almost similar to the outgoing version with some feature additions and tweaks. A 17.77 cm AVN with IPS display for better viewing angle equipped with smart phone connectivity and Arkamys premium sound system. Rear armrest with cup holders is a new addition not seen in hatchbacks and is considered to be a sedan only feature.
In terms of technologically advanced features 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift is offered with Hyundai Auto Link which helps the customers to stay connected with their car. At a click of a button information regarding vehicle heath, driving information, road side assistance , driving history and eco driving can be retrieved by the customer.
Keeping in mind how the customers are now willing to shell out money for saey features Hyundai has made some significant additions with 6 airbags to offer (Frontal and side protection) and ISOFIX seats. Even the base variant now gets dual front air bags, ABS and speed sending auto door lock as a standard feature.
Powertrains have been retained. 82 bhp 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual unit, and an 89 bhp 1.4-litre U2 CRDI diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. But, it gets a more powerful 99 bhp 1.4-litre dual VTVT petrol engine that comes mated to a 4-speed automatic torque converter.
